Located in the heart of downtown Mead, Colorado, this 11,500-square-foot Community Center transforms the former site of a 1920s pinto bean processing plant into a vibrant civic space. The facility includes a full-sized cross-court gymnasium, a flexible multipurpose room, staff offices, a reception area, storage, and restrooms. Designed to support indoor-outdoor programming, the site features an event plaza, walking paths, seating areas, and a rentable patio. Site development also included paving the alley, adding curbs and sidewalks, and constructing a new parking lot. Honoring Mead’s agricultural heritage, the project integrates salvaged elements from the original bean plant—such as repurposed grain bins and a conveyor transformed into a lighted gateway—preserving history while supporting the town’s future.
